1. How do I find out about available city jobs?: Most positions within the city are filled through the Civil Service competitive process. Please check our website for openings.

2. Do I have to live in the city to apply for a position?: No. You do not need to be a city resident to apply or become a city employee.

3. If I am not considered for a position, but I believe that I do meet the qualifications, what can I do?: The Civil Service Commission is the appellant body of the City of Sharonville classified positions. They meet the first Thursday of the month at noon and hear appeals regarding testing, screening, minimum qualifications, etc. You must submit your letter of appeal in writing to the Civil Service Commission, 10900 Reading Road, Sharonville, Ohio 45241.

4. May I submit a resume and be called when something opens up in my field?: The city does not keep resumes on file. We encourage applicants to check our website on a weekly basis so that they are aware of all openings for which they are interested.

5. Why are there upper age limits for police and fire positions?: The State Civil Service Law requires that candidates not meet their 37th birthday by the date of appointment for fire and the candidates must reach their 21st birthday by the date of appointment for police. At this time, we must follow the dictates of the state law.

7. How many employees does Sharonville employ?: There are approximately 160 full-time employees working for the city. An additional 250 employees are hired part time or seasonally to work in the departments.

8. How many police officers and fire fighters are on the city's payroll?: Approximately 80 of the 170 city employees are police officers or fire fighters.
