Containers are not to exceed 45 gallons capacity and must weigh no more than 70 lbs loaded. Ashes must be cold and placed in separate containers with adequate covers. Paper boxes must be broken down and tied in bundles.
There is a limit of 10 containers or items for trash removal. One (1) large item may be included in the limit of 10 items. If you are placing a large item out for pickup, please call Rumpke at 513-851-0122 the day before your scheduled pickup day. The containers cannot weigh more than 70 lbs. loaded, must be sturdy enough to hold the contents, and must have handles. No loose garbage is to be set out. No garbage is to be put into cardboard boxes. Cardboard boxes must be broken down and flattened out and tied or taped together.
All containers must be placed at the curb or edge of street right-of-way no later than 7 a.m. on the morning of pickup. Garbage is collected between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nothing may be placed at the curb or on the road edge sooner than two hours before dark on the evening before your regularly scheduled garbage collection day.
If your regularly scheduled garbage collection day falls
on a holiday, your garbage will still be collected on that day, except
Christmas and New Year’s Day. The collection for these
two holidays will be scheduled one day later after the holiday for the remainder of the week.
Acidic or caustic materials, dry or liquid, including lead-acid batteries (car, marine batteries, etc.) must not be put in with regular garbage. These items, as well as tires, must be disposed of by the resident. Needles and syringes must be disposed of in a sharps container or in a plastic container (such as a detergent bottle or a 2 L bottle) with a lid.
Refrigerators, ice makers, window air conditioners, freezers, or any other appliance containing chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) refrigerants must have the CFC removed before it will be picked up. A certified technician will need to tape a sticker on the appliance verifying the CFC has been removed. Also, tape documentation to the appliance, verifying that a certified technician has removed the CFC. Documentation from Rumpke (Refrigerant Recovery Statement) must also be completed and taped to the appliance before it will be removed.
Due to possible bedbug infestations, our trash policies have also changed. All mattresses and box springs out for pickup must be encased in plastic and sealed with masking or duct tape. Couches and chairs also need to be wrapped in plastic and sealed with tape.
Bags may be purchased at U-Haul in Sharonville for about $3-$5 per bag. Residents might also consider having the new furniture delivered to their homes and the furniture companies remove the old pieces as a service. Several companies do this for their customers.
Carpets and padding may be placed out to the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day. The carpets and pads must be cut up into 4 foot sections, rolled and tied or taped. The rolled sections of carpet or padding cannot be more than 2 feet round in diameter. Remember the limit of 10 containers or items for trash removal. Please see the Mattress Disposal Guide for more information.
If the collector fails to pick up your garbage, call 563-1177 to report it as soon as possible.
